The DSC team consists of fifty four people, of which six are located in MP and the rest in Gujarat. The team consists of programme, programme support and field staff.
Programme staff is based at the DSC central office in Ahmedabad and comes from diverse disciplines such as social sciences, management, engineering and communication. The current programme team consisting of 12 people brings in work experience of upto twenty years in the development sector. While it is essentially involved in capacity building, research, networking, policy advocacy and communication, it also provides support to the field teams that directly implement DSC’s programmes.
There are eleven programme support staff based at the central office. With work experience of upto twenty five years in the development sector, programme support basically manages the day-to-day administration of the office besides book keeping and finance.
The total number of field staff at DSC is thirty one. Each field office typically has a team leader supported by two to three team members specializing in disciplines such as engineering, social sciences and agriculture. Except in Anand and the District Resource Centre, Modasa where they predominantly provide capacity building inputs to functionaries in irrigation management, members of the field teams are involved in direct implementation of various programmes (such as PIM, watershed, agriculture etc.) and facilitation of village institutions including Federations.
