Welcome to DSC Library and Information Centre
Development Support Centre Library was set up in August 1996. The main objective
of Library is to provide information support to the need of development workers
– NGOs, Government Organizations, Academic Institutes and Research Institutes.
DSC library has a rich collection of books, journals, government documents and publications
of other institutions in the field of natural resource management. Besides facilitating
Institute’s own research activities, DSC library provides services to other
research scholars also. DSC offers membership to Researchers from other institutions
can access the library on providing a reference letter from their respective institute’s
Officers/ Librarian.
Library Timings
The Library is open on all working days from 10.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. It remains
closed on second and fourth Saturdays, and on all public holidays.
Library Collection
We have about 3300 books including valuable reports, conference reports,
conference reports and papers on subjects such as Natural Resource Management including
Watershed Development and Management, Participatory Irrigation Management, Joint
Forest Management, Rural Development, Agriculture and Gender in general & specifically
in both Watershed and Participatory Management and a host of other development issues.
We also have 250 research papers, discussion papers, and working papers from well
known organizations like -International Institute for Environment and Development,
UK; Overseas Development Institute, London; Agricultural Research Extension Network,
ODI, London; International Irrigation Management Institute, Sri Lanka; International
Water Management Institute, Sri Lanka; Institute of Rural Management Anand, Anand.
Reference books are available such as Atlas of Watershed, Census Books, Directories,
Dictionaries and Gazetteers etc.
We have about 90 video cassettes/ VCDs on subject such as Natural Resources Management,
Rural Development, Agriculture and Gender.
Periodicals such as – Agriwatch, Development: international Development Magazine,
Down to Earth, Economic and Political Weekly, Economist, Enviro News, Frontline,
Kurukshetra, Yojana etc. About 35 professional foreign and Indian journals are subscribed.
Users of DSC Library
DSC is developing into a full fledged resource center that is being used by individual
scholars as well as institutions such as NGOs, Government Departments, Academic
and research institutions, dealing with a variety of subjects on climatological,
hydrological and other parameters of Natural Resources Management. The database
is fully computerized & therefore easily accessible. The users have the option
of taking notes in the library or borrowing books after due consent of the librarian.

Computerisation of Library Services
The Library uses and also offers state-of-art computer technology to its users for
easy and speedy access to the library resources. The library uses “LIBRARIAN”
(Library Management Software - Enterprise Edition) for information storage and retrieval,
supported by multi user support facilities linked with LAN. Computerized database
allows document search through Title, Author, Subject, Keyword, Publishers and ISBN
etc.
The bibliographic details of library documents can be accessed through Online Public
Access Catalogue (WEB-OPAC). Now the library is fully computerised and people can
access its database through on-line service (DSC Library ).
