Board of Governors
DSC, as an organization consists of group of professionals and field workers working under active leadership and guidance of Chairman and Executive Director as per the mandate set up in consultation with the Board of Governors. DSC's Governing Board has fourteen members including Chairman and Executive Director of DSC who is also a Member-Secretary. The Governing Board presents a blend of rich experience. There are industrialists, government administrators, social entrepreneurs, NGO leaders, management experts, academicians and researchers on the Board. These members have been known for their dynamism in their respective fields. They provide an impetus to the organization for growth and diversification of its programmes. They also review the programmes in light of the organization's mission and the trends in policy environment.

Chairman
DSC's Chairman, Mr. Anil C Shah is a retired member of the Indian Administrative Services. He has more than five decades of unique experience in the development sector both inside Government and outside Government. His association with this sector has been in various capacities from Block Development Officer in 1952, the District Development Officer in 1967 and as Secretary Rural Development in the Government of Gujarat in 1984 and then for the decade, as a Chief Executive Officer of the Aga Khan Rural Support Programme India. His major contribution is in the field of Participatory Natural Resource Management. He pioneered the participatory approach in the country through the introduction of Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) methods. He has contributed in the introduction of participatory approaches at the policy level especially in formulation of the national and state level guidelines for Joint Forest Management, Participatory Watershed Development and Participatory Irrigation Management. As a member of the State and National Committee on training in Watershed Management and Participatory Irrigation Management, he has introduced the concept of participatory planning and training in the development sector.

Executive Director
Mr. Sachin Oza, the Executive Director, has a master's degree in Social Work from Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. He has been with DSC since its inception in 1994. Working initially as Training Co-ordinator of the organization, he has taken up Directorship since 2000. He has 14 years of experience in the voluntary sector

Programme Staff
The Programme Staff hail from various disciplines such as social work, social science, engineering, agriculture, management, planning and communications. The Programme officers have an experience of five to ten years in the voluntary sector. At present, DSC has eleven such professionals working from the central office in Ahmedabad.

Field Staff
The organization has six field units, four working for Participatory Irrigation Management (Visnagar, Himmatnagar, Modasa and Vahelal), one for Watershed Development (Meghraj) and one for Watershed Plus (Dhari). There are fifteen full-time members in the field units, representing professions of social science, agriculture and civil engineering. The field teams works independently, but have frequent interactions with the programme officers at the headquarters.

The field team develops a cadre of village functionaries in each village. These functionaries perform a very vital role in the process of village institution development. The field teams work as community organizers. They also implement and monitor programmes. The team members' qualifications range from diploma in engineering, bachelor's degree in social work to post-graduate degree in Rural Studies.

Administration, Accounts and Other Support Staff
There are eleven members in administrative staff to help the Chairman, the Executive Director and the Programme Staff. They include one administration and accounts officer, one accountant, one librarian, three secretaries, one receptionist and three drivers. Most of the support staff has been with DSC for five years or more.

In addition to looking after administration and accounts at the DSC, the administrative officer and the account officer also help the field units in maintaining their accounts. They also conduct training sessions for the functionaries of village institutions.
